Your nervous system isn't broken. It's stuck in the "on" position.
Racing thoughts, a body that won’t stand down, a mind that treats every small thing like an emergency anxiety is a medical pattern, not a personality trait. And it responds remarkably well to real treatment.
Your body's smoke alarm, going off in an empty kitchen.
If any of this sounds like your daily reality, it might not be “just stress.”
A racing heart before anything has actually gone wrong
Replaying a five-minute conversation for the rest of the night
A "what if" spiral that won't take no for an answer
Exhaustion from a body that never quite stands down
Let's reframe it
Anxiety isn't a personality flaw. It's a nervous system stuck in overdrive and overdrive can be retrained.
Being told to "just relax" for years leaves most people assuming the problem is a lack of willpower. It isn't. It's a threat-detection system firing too often, too intensely, with no real threat in sight and it's remarkably responsive to the right care.

Questions about anxiety care
What people ask before their first anxiety evaluation.
Q1: How is anxiety actually diagnosed via telehealth?
Through a structured clinical evaluation a detailed history, a review of your symptoms, and a conversation about how worry, fear, or panic show up across your daily life. No in-person testing is required.
Q2: Is anxiety medication addictive?
It depends on the medication. Many first-line anxiety treatments, like SSRIs and SNRIs, are not habit-forming. We’ll walk through your options honestly, including risks and alternatives, so you can make an informed decision together with Dr. Thaker.
Q3: Will I have to take medication forever?
Not necessarily. Treatment length is individual some patients use medication short-term through a difficult stretch, others benefit from longer maintenance. We reassess regularly and adjust as your needs change.
Q4: What's the difference between everyday stress and an anxiety disorder?
Mainly frequency, intensity, and interference. If worry is constant, disproportionate to the situation, or it’s getting in the way of work, relationships, or sleep, that’s worth a real evaluation not something to just push through.
Q5: How soon will I notice a difference?
Many patients notice meaningful changes within the first few weeks of treatment, though it varies. We monitor closely at follow-up visits and fine-tune the plan as needed.
